2021 Year in Review

The year began with flickering hope but shuddered to a halt. We knew since last year that things will never be the same again, but we held on to the hope that vaccination will end the worst of the pandemic. And as 2021 ends with new variants, we’re still grappling with Covid-19. Travel plans are again cancelled. Is there anything positive we can say about 2021?

Well, yes. Despite everything, it has been a year filled with exciting events, countless ups and downs nevertheless. If I count in the fizzy bubbles, our cup is more than half full!

As an organisation that relies heavily on travel industry, the ban or restriction on travelling has indeed impacted us. Significantly. After all, we are only in our second year of operation since we launched. However, looking back at what we have gone through, we do wonder if it could be a blessing in disguise.

2021 has certainly been a year with a steep learning curve. We were given the opportunity and time to learn, not chewing anything bigger than what we can handle. We were able to grow at a comfortable and healthy pace. With this, we built a strong foundation for our team. We were able to actually learn the basics of swimming, as opposed to being thrown into the deep sea and try to survive. We could focus on what’s in hand. And this, importantly, is reflected in the quality of service to our customers and clients.

Towards the second half of 2021, we celebrated a breakthrough in our business growth. With large insurance clients and more assistance partners added to our portfolio, we expanded our bandwidth to cater to higher volume of calls and cases. As our presence grew, we started to receive more and more requests directly from the public as well as from word-of-mouth. We had the priviledge to assist many families with medical evacuations and repatriations, whether cross border or domestic transfers, Covid or non-Covid. (Isn’t it amusing we now categorise transfers as Covid and non-Covid).

We are especially grateful to have a team who WANTS to be here, and to grow together.

In retrospect, we could say this has been a crazy year! Of course, we wouldn’t been able to reach this point if not for our people. We mean this from the bottom of our hearts… to the point we occasionally felt the urge to call our young colleagues’ parents to personally thank them for producing these precious human beings! Honestly and sincerely, we are especially grateful to have a team who WANTS to be here, and to grow together. I have even candidly asked them, “Why are you here?”. Want to know their answers? You can ask them 😛

What will 2022 bring us?

For one thing, will it be better or not, it appears to be our choice.
